OLI features 128-bit SSL (secure socket layer) Data Encryption through the Web-FTP, as well as secure email when clients use the SSL ports (see below) and websites that use the secure layer as shown below. We also feature SSH (secure shell) encryption through Secure FTP (SFTP).
First
it is important to note the different Secure Server ports as they must
be configured in your software:
SMTP:
465
POP3: 995
IMAP: 993
FTP (SFTP): 22
FTP
(SFTP): To enable secure FTP (SFTP), use your regular FTP domain name,
username and password except you will connect to port 22. Make sure you have the SFTP box checked to enable it in your FTP Software.
Also, if asked you should adjust your software to use Implicit FTP.
Web
content / programming: To access your website securely via SSL, you
put your server name in the first part of the https URL, then a forward
slash followed by the first part of your domain name without the ".com"
EXAMPLE: if you're on server21 and your domain name is johnsmith.com,
you would access the Website securely by a going to
https://server21.olicentral.com/johnsmith.com
NOTE: if you are on another server, like server20, then you would
connect to https://server20.olicentral.com/johnsmith.com
You can find out
your server number by logging into the Control Panel where it's
displayed on the opening page.
Secure
order forms: To activate your SSL Web folder for use with encrypted
forms, login to the Control Panel then click "Add a secure directory"
which will create your folder on the secure server. You will login to
the secure server using your Control Panel/FTP login info, however the
host name will be secure.onlineinstitute.com
Email Hosting: To use SSL with your
email software, make sure you set your email software options to use
SSL, then set the ports to the numbers given above. For the incoming
and outgoing servers, you will connect to your server name instead of
mail.yourname.com, like: server21.olicentral.com
NOTE: if you are on another server, like server20, then you would
connect to host server20.olicentral.com. You can find out your server
number by logging into the Control Panel where it's displayed on the
opening page.
