What does FTP stand for?
|
The definition of FTP is File Transfer Protocol. If that still sounds a bit techie, it just means a way of moving files around online.
Most commonly, the files are moved between a user's computer and a remote FTP Server.
FTP is the most common way website designers move their website files onto web servers for the world to see. Another common use of FTP is to backup important files on a remote FTP server, or share files using private FTP folders with other people.
Now that you know the definition of FTP (or at least the answer to what does FTP stand for) go ahead and get your feet wet! Make backups of your important files on a remote FTP server, or start publishing Website files, or share files without email using FTP.
