How does it all work?
connecting surfers with servers
In simple terms, the Internet
is a worldwide network of computers that share info. Popular
types of info shared include Web pages and email.
The 3 necessary components
are:
1. A surfer (like
you) who receives info.
1. A server provider, like OLI, which serves up
this info.
3. An Internet service provider (ISP) that connects
the surfer with the server. Examples of ISPs include AOL,
Earthlink or a DSL Provider.
