A more secure outgoing mailserver
Requiring Authentication for your outgoing mailserver (SMTP)
If you use your local ISPs SMTP server (which we recommend anyway) then contact them for your outgoing (SMTP) mailserver settings.
Or, if you use OLI's outgoing mailserver (SMTP - mail.your-domain.com hosted by OLI) for sending mail from software like Outlook, then you should adjust your software so that your SMTP requires authentication:
Outlook and Outlook Express 5, 6 and 2000: Open Outlook and click on the Tools menu, then Select Accounts. Select your OLI email account and click the Properties button. Select the Servers tab. Select My Server Requires Authentication, under the Outgoing Mail Server heading. Click on the Settings button. Select the option to Use same settings as my incoming mail server. Click the OK button.
Outlook Express - most newer versions: Open Outlook and click the Tools menu and select E-mail Accounts. Select View or change existing email accounts. Click the Next button. Select your OLI email account and click the Change button. Click on the More Settings button. Select the Outgoing Server tab. Select My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. Select Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.
Other Email Clients: Go into the Account Settings for your email account and adjust it so your Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication, with the same OLI Username and password settings as your Incoming mail server (POP3).
