Connecting via Secure FTP aka FTPS, FTPES and FTP-SSL (and SFTP for the main user).
Our Secure FTP Hosting packages include access to secure FTP access
To connect using FTPS: (SSL FTP)
Host: host.oliserver.com (this is the domain the SSL cert is assigned to)
Username: user@domain-name-for-ftp (change this to your own)
Password: (user's password)
Port: 21
If necessary, specify "Explicit-Auth TLS" or in Filezilla select the server type to be: "FTPES - FTP Over Explicit TLS/SSL"
If unable to connect, you may need to allow secure connections to port 21 on your firewall
To Connect to SFTP (SSH FTP) you must be the main admin user.
All other users may use FTPS as described above as SFTP is restricted to the main admin user only to better protect SSH from brute-force attacks.
To connect with your main admin user:
Host: host.oliserver.com
Username: Your-CPanel-Username (change this to your own)
Port: 22
Note you don't need the @domain at the end of the username when connecting via SFTP. Only other users accessing via FTPS will need the @domain in their username.
Our Top Pick for Secure FTP Software:
The best FTP software out there (works for PC and Mac) is FileZilla. First Download Filezilla and then connect like this:
Go to File -> Site Manager
Host: host.oliserver.com
Username: user@domain-for-ftp
password: (user's password)
Port: 21
Select server type: "FTPES - FTP Over Explicit TLS/SSL"
Note "host.oliserver.com" is the domain the SSL certificate is assigned to.
